GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Associate Psychologist IV is assigned to the Authority and Admissions Department of the Developmental Disabilities Division of Texana. The position is responsible for conducting standardized assessments of individuals (of all ages) who apply for developmental disability services through the TexanaCenter. The eligibility determination process includes: conducting a thorough developmental/medical history, administering and interpreting standardized measures of intellectual functioning and adaptive behavior, and employing standardized measures to determine whether there is evidence of an autism-spectrum disorder or other related condition. The associate psychologist, under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, is responsible for making a differential diagnosis to determine if the individual meets priority population criteria (i.e., meets criteria for the diagnosis of mental retardation, an autism-spectrum disorder, and/or another related condition). The associate psychologist provides crisis support through preliminary analysis of presenting problematic behaviors and assists individuals in accessing crisis services. The associate psychologist provides information and direction to the Authority and Admissions Department regarding diagnostic and treatment/training issues for persons with developmental disabilities.
The position is located in Richmond with normal work hours Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Limited travel within a 6-county region is required. The position reports to the Authority and Admissions Psychologist. Responsible and accountable for adherence to and promotion of Texana Compliance Policy.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in psychology, licensed in Texas as a psychological associate (PA) or Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP), successful completion of graduate course work in individual intellectual assessment, supervised experience in adaptive behavior assessment, and one year of employment working with intellectually disabled individuals. Must be a TDMHMR-certified psychologist or must be eligible to become certified by the Department of Aging and Disability Services within 30 days of employment (certification eligibility based on meeting all other required qualifications).
